Procedure for an in-vehicle interface

Context

This guide shows users how to share navigation routes from the passenger screen to the main screen in the STLA SmartCockpit. The goal was to make an advanced feature easy to use.

It shows the shortest form of what I do: clear, concise instructions.

Tools: Figma, Google Docs, Photoshop

What to notice

  • One context sentence up front tells the reader how the task helps them.
  • Steps are in the second person and start with the verb.
  • Interface objects are bold so the reader can spot the action they need to take.
  • Each photo sits directly under the step it shows.
  • Matching icons next to the objects show the reader what to look for.

Sharing a favorite route from the passenger screen to the main screen

You can share navigation routes from the passenger screen to the main screen.

  1. Select Navigation from the passenger screen.
  2. Tap ★ Favorites.

  3. Select the destination and tap steering wheel icon Plan.

  4. Tap Send to Driver. The route appears on the main screen.

  6. The route appears on the main and passenger screens.

Tip: The directions also appear on the driver cluster.
